Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was instrumental in keeping Borussia Dortmund in the game in the first half as they beat Leverkusen 4-2.

Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac has hailed Gregor Kobel after the 27-year-old made a string of saves to keep his side in the game in the first half as they cruised to a 4-2 win at Leverkusen on Sunday.

‘We saw a great game in difficult circumstances. Gregor kept us in the game in the first half. We did better in the second half.’ 

‘The change from 5-4-1 to 5-3-2 in the first half was an improvement and when (Marcel) Sabitzer came on we showed more composure and control of the game.’ 

‘Top teams don’t need many chances and top players score when they have the chance. I call on us to play every game as if it were a Champions League game,’ Kovac said.
